My child is behind — is it too late to start?

No. Most families start 12–18 months out, but we regularly see strong improvement from students who start 6 months before the exam. I'm not good at maths myself — can I still help my child?

Yes — and you don't need to be. Your job is to make sure they show up and practise. Our job is to figure out what they need to work on next. The platform does the analysis. You'll get a plain-English summary each week showing exactly where they stand and what to focus on — no maths required.

How do I know if what we're doing is actually working?

You'll see it in the numbers. After the first test, you'll know the score gap to your target school. After a few weeks of practice, you'll see that gap closing. The dashboard shows a trend line — not just a single score — so you can see whether the trajectory is heading in the right direction.

Which year levels is this for?

Year 4 and Year 5 students preparing for the WA GATE ASET. Students sit the ASET in Year 6 — so starting in Year 4 or 5 gives the best preparation runway. Year 5 students are preparing for the exam 10–12 months away; Year 4 students can begin building vocabulary, reasoning, and writing habits early.

When is the ASET exam?

The ASET is held on a Saturday in early March each year. Applications open in mid-October of Year 5 and close in early February of Year 6 via the WA Department of Education GATE Portal. Most families start structured preparation 12–18 months before the exam.

How does the Writing section work?

Your child writes their response on paper, as they would in the real exam. You photograph the handwritten page and upload it. Our AI evaluates it against the official 24-point ASET rubric (Ideas, Structure, Vocabulary, Conventions) within seconds.

How is the Projected Score calculated?

We use the same Z-score method as the real ASET — raw scores are converted to standard scores based on question difficulty, then combined into a Total Standard Score. It updates after every paper. The estimate is based on practice performance only and is not a prediction of your child's actual ASET result.
